More hardware brands on our roadmap
Great reading starts when technology gets out of the way. BookFusion Ink brings our love of thoughtful, focused reading to E Ink hardware.
Bring the world of BookFusion to a dedicated reading device, without making your reading life more complicated.
A reading-focused experience designed around the simple pleasure of turning the next page.
Xteink is our starting point. We're working toward support for more E Ink devices and manufacturers.
Keep your eBook library connected across your E Ink reader, Android phone or tablet, iPhone, iPad, Web and Desktop. Spend less time transferring files and more time reading.
Discover an interesting article while browsing? Save it to BookFusion and enjoy it on your E Ink reader. Your books and articles finally have one home.
Start reading on one device and continue on another. Your reading progress stays synchronized, so every device knows where you left off.
Capture important passages and return to them whenever inspiration strikes. Your highlights stay connected to your library and can be revisited, organized and exported through BookFusion.
Track your reading activity and build better habits. Whether you're reading on E Ink, mobile or your computer, your activity contributes to a connected picture of your reading journey.
Organize your collection with shelves, tags, series and powerful library tools. Bring together books and articles without scattering your reading life across different apps.
BookFusion Ink brings dedicated E Ink reading into the broader BookFusion ecosystem, including Calibre library synchronization, Notion and Obsidian integrations, highlight exports, and text-to-speech on supported platforms.

Ready to try BookFusion Ink? Plug in your reader and follow the installer's instructions.
Connect it to your computer with its cable: USB-C on the X4, the magnetic cable on the X3, X4 Classic and X4 Pro. Press Power so it's awake.
Use the official BookFusion Ink installer, in Chrome or Edge. It recognizes your model.
Back up your content, then install. Keep the reader plugged in until it restarts.
Once installation finishes, join Wi-Fi, link your BookFusion account with the code the reader shows, and get reading.
Open the BookFusion Ink installer in Chrome or Edge on a computer. Safari and Firefox can't reach a reader over USB.

Firmware installation modifies your device's software and carries risk. Back up books and other important files, follow the instructions for your exact model, and ensure the device has sufficient power. Check any warranty implications with your device manufacturer. Do not disconnect your device during an active firmware update.
If you change your mind, Xteink's own firmware tool restores the original software. And if your reader doesn't appear in the installer at all, stop and contact support before trying anything else.

You can also make your voice heard directly. Reach out to your device manufacturer's support team or start a constructive discussion in its subreddit. Let them know you'd love to see BookFusion Ink on their devices.

The Xteink X3, X4, X4 Classic and X4 Pro. Plug yours in, and the installer recognizes which one it is. Some X4 Classic and X4 Pro batches use a display controller BookFusion Ink doesn't drive yet; a reader from one of them says so when it starts.
No. BookFusion Ink was written from the ground up by BookFusion, with a single focus: delivering the complete BookFusion experience on E Ink readers. It is not based on CrossPoint or any other open-source firmware.
BookFusion Ink is a BookFusion firmware project compatible with Xteink devices. Compatibility does not, by itself, mean that Xteink develops, endorses or provides support for the firmware.
Your reader and its cable, a computer with Chrome or Edge, your Wi-Fi password and a BookFusion account. Safari and Firefox can't reach a reader over USB, and neither can a phone.
Yes. Firmware installation modifies the software running on your device. Read the applicable guidance, back up your important files, and check the device manufacturer's warranty conditions before making changes.
Yes, as it goes to sleep: it sends your place, new highlights and reading time for the book you were reading, and takes a newer place from your other devices. Press Power again to stop it. Sync now on My Shelf brings in the rest, and you can switch it off in Settings, under Sync before sleep.
Not yet. BookFusion Ink reads the EPUBs and articles in your BookFusion library: upload a book to BookFusion once, then download it on the reader from My Shelf. PDFs and comics aren't supported yet.
From the installer: plug the reader in, and it offers the newest firmware. Updates over Wi-Fi are on the way.
That's the plan. We're interested in expanding BookFusion Ink to more devices and manufacturers, but we haven't announced specific additional models or launch dates yet.
Use the request form above to tell us, and consider asking your device maker through their support channels or subreddit. Tell us the brand and exact model you use.
